Hello! I'm

Jordyn

I am the twenty-something behind this blog. I graduated with my Bachelor's in Social Work at the University of Iowa in 2019. Then, I packed up my little 2008 Kia Optima and my two month old kitten, left the things that didn't fit, and moved out to Portland, Oregon. The my journey as an Oregonian was defined by starting and transitioning out of a career in social work, adjusting my environment to fit my changing needs, and growing an intimate knowing of my relationship with my body through movement, rest, and navigating a chronic illness. Much to my surprise, my "Oregon Era" came to a close at the end of 2023 and I moved back to Iowa proud, excited, and heart-broken all at once.

I care about living a lifestyle that aligns with my values. My free time is filled with my latest project. One project I love to share is Tricky Existence, the podcast on relationships and social justice I co-host with the wonderful Pearl. I'm an Enneagram 1. Virgo Rising. Cancer Sun & Moon. Soft Autumn (please let me tell you about color analysis). I chose to live alcohol-free back in September 2020, but I'm still the last to leave the dance floor. I'm also the first to bail if I'm not feeling it--nights out, books, activities--if I don't want to do it, I can't. I'm inconsistent in my hobbies and I think I'm better for it. I can always use more alone time. I'm a binge consumer, usually in the form of books. Most days you'll find me Face-Timing my bffs, reorganizing the house, or becoming an internet expert on my latest curiosity. I am motivated by being present in every moment of my life, but I don't judge my anxiety on the days that I fail. My best days are spent creating. I'm always ready to travel, but I love the feeling of coming home.

I started blogging during my undergraduate years, lost interest, and have re-published this site in 2023. I believe in the power of a story. That's what you'll find here; everyday moments in my life, experiences that have molded me, travel blogs, and resources. I share because I love centering my experience (always a main character moment here), but more so because I've felt the relief and insight that comes from reading a shared experience.
